New Scam Alert posing as Braintree PD

We’ve been made aware on three occasions now, of a scammer calling from 781-806-4056 posing as one of our officers who actually works for our department. The scammer has a severe southern drawl, not a Boston accent, and is attempting to solicit money in order to clear up your warrants.

1. None of our officers sound like they’re from the Deep South. We have a hard enough time pronouncing our “R’s”.

2. We will never call you or anyone in order to clear up an arrest warrant in exchange for cash, gift cards, Bitcoin etc.

3. When in doubt, hang up and call the station directly to see if something from the BPD is legit.
