Promotions to Deputy Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant

Newly promoted officers with Mayor and Chief

The Braintree Police would like to congratulate Deputy Chief Michael Moschella, Lieutenant Brian Cohoon and Sergeant James Peters who were all promoted during a ceremony today at town hall with Mayor Charles Kokoros. 
Deputy Moschella has been with the department for 27 years and was the Lt. of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.   In addition to being a former detective, he has held roles as Arson Investigator, Motorcycle Officer, and Patrol Supervisor. He holds numerous commendations and is highly trained in Investigations and Command-Level leadership. 


Lt. Brian Cohoon has been with the department for 38 years and was the Sgt of our Family Services Unit. He is a former K9 Officer, Detective, SWAT Operator, Narcotics Detective, Task Force Officer, Training Sergeant, and Firearms Instructor. As a supervisor in FSU, Lt. Cohoon helped develop our Crisis Intervention Training HUB through Dept. of Mental Health.


Sgt. James Peters has been a police officer for 16 years and came to us from the Hudson Massachusetts Police Department in 2012. Since 2014 he has served in the Drug Control Unit and spent much of that time as a Task Force Officer attached to the DEA. Sgt Peters is a highly trained and decorated narcotics detective and received numerous commendations and awards for large scale state and federal narcotics Investigations. He holds a bachelors degree in CJ from Arizona State University.
